Halcyon Days

Several responses to last week’s article were received from members of the ‘Gurdjieff community’. I must stand corrected. It was pointed out to me that the main reason for the loss of the benefits to mankind of the labours of ‘The Very Saintly Ashiata Shiemash’ was not exactly as I had stated. My view that the introduction of democracy by Lentrohamsanin was the main cause of destruction actually accelerated a more fundamental process. I overlooked the simple fact that the disciples or followers of ‘The Very Saintly Ashiata Shiemash’ did not possess the ableness to sustain the doctrine with sufficient intensity for its preservation. This is the case with every great teaching. It begins with Divine inspiration and eventually devolves into state religion or something equally corrupt. It does provide an excellent example of why we should all be our own leaders, that individuality is paramount, and that collectivism, some notion of equality, or reliance on others, will not improve our situation.

Sunrise

Another response from an ‘auld acquaintance’ was entirely predictable. It was the same message he has transmitted to me many times since we met approximately a decade ago.

His comments refer specifically to Beelzebub’s Tales Chapter 7 entitled ‘Becoming Aware of Genuine Being-Duty. Beelzebub says to his grandson Hassein “So in the meantime, exist as you exist. Only do not forget one thing, namely, at your age it is indispensably necessary that every day, at sunrise, while watching the reflection of its splendour, you bring about a contact between your consciousness and the various unconscious parts of your general presence.”

This ‘auld acquaintance’ says quite simply watch the sunrise! He tells of living for a time in the 1970’s with a community in Peru where this practice was fundamental. He has continued the practice to this day.

There are many in the ‘Gurdjieff community’ who will explain that the view of my acquaintance is simplistic and not the deepest meaning of this passage. This may well be the case. I did have the inclination to test the literal interpretation of my acquaintance, and for most of the last decade, have been a regular attender at sunrise. There is no doubt that watching the sun at sunrise increases my energy.

Sun gazing is not so unusual. You can find plenty people on the internet who will explain their methodology and are convinced that there are health benefits. I started by looking directly at the risen sun for just a couple of minutes and gradually increased this as I felt comfortable until I could look straight at the sun continuously for 35-40 minutes. I have noticed that depending on how high it is risen there is a different colour pulsating around the sun. Purple and red seem to be the easiest to see 25-30 minutes after sunrise and it is once the red pulse appears that I tend to end the practice. It is also noticeable that I am less easily dazzled by the sun than someone who doesn’t practice sun-gazing. Increasing internal energy sounds like a great idea but increased energy can lead to explosions in our interaction with others, beware. Many are those who admire the sunset and while most of us would agree that it is a beautiful moment, my own experience is, that in terms of receiving energy, the sunset is nowhere near as powerful as the sunrise. I suspect there is a simple answer to this, that in the morning the air is much clearer so the sun’s rays reach us with greater purity than at the end of the day.  

The Sexual Problem

Before receiving feedback to last week’s article, I had intended just to attempt a summary on the subject of sex as mentioned in Beelzebub’s Tales and in the Gnostic teachings of Samael Aun Weor. Coincidentally during last week Dan Mar at Activate Humanity posted a link to this Gnostic video, Sex – The Secret Gate to Eden.

Several years ago, I participated in an online Gurdjieff study group. Part of the project was a chapter-by-chapter analysis of Beelzebub’s Tales. Chapter 39 is entitled ‘The Holy Planet “Purgatory”’. This chapter attracted by far the most intense analysis and debate.

On page 794, within the said chapter, Beelzebub tells Hassein,” Whereas, this same ‘being-act,’ which for your favourites has been turned into their chief vice, constitutes and is considered everywhere in our Great Universe for beings of all kinds of natures, as the most sacred of all sacred Divine sacraments.”   

So, according to Beelzebub, we have taken what is viewed as the greatest gift in the Universe, the gift of creation, and here on earth turned it into our greatest vice. The public profile of this vice has grown rapidly during my lifetime. In the section History & Culture on this website there is the text of an interview with Russian psychologist Grigory Petrovich Klimov here. For 50 years Klimov studied the behaviour of the ruling class both in the Soviet Union and in ‘the west’. His opinion was they are almost entirely sexual degenerates.

This probably goes a long way to explain why there has been such determined effort during the last 50 years to promote by every means possible, the acceptance of any sexual habit or pastime beyond the basic requirement for pro-creation. We might observe that sexual behaviour which extends beyond that necessary for procreation is not new. It’s often incorrectly stated that prostitution is the oldest profession. Beelzebub corrects this error. Prostitution only arose as a result of military requirements! Mass communication during the last century has feasted on our preoccupation with sex and ensured that more and more people, which often includes young children, are at the very least made aware of all manner of sexual behaviour.     

In 2010 when I was reading Beelzebub’s Tales certain information in the chapter ‘The Holy Planet “Purgatory”, made allusion to sexual energy being a component of spiritual transformation. Closer scrutiny might have provided more information but shortly after reading ‘The Tales’ for the second time, aloud, as if reading to an audience, I encountered the Gnostic teachings of Samael Aun Weor.

Samael Aun Weor (pronounced Vayor) was born Victor Rodriguez in Bogota, Columbia in 1917. By the time he died on Christmas Eve 1977 he had written over 60 books on esoteric spirituality for which he accepted no payment. It was his publishing of ‘The Perfect Matrimony’ in 1950 a year after the publication of Beelzebub’s Tales, that brought Samael to public attention. The book detailed Sexual alchemy as a necessity to achieve spiritual advancement. The book was immediately banned by the Church of Rome.

Gurdjieff and Samael largely agree that any form of sexual activity deviating from that necessary for pro-creation is a recipe for physiological and psychological disaster, not only is there a profound negative impact on the practitioner, but also on those with whom they are in contact.

While Gurdjieff through his proxy, Beelzebub had made allusion to the significance of sex as a means to spiritual advancement, Samael, in ‘The Perfect Matrimony’ was unambiguous. The full text is available to read here.                     

In his own words, Samael was here on earth to divulge the ‘Great Arcanum’, hidden mystery, that was always known, but not obvious to the general population. The ‘Great Arcanum’ was taught by all Divine messengers to their disciples including by Jesus of Nazareth. Now as is speculated, the end of the Aryan civilisation approaches, therefore the teaching is now public to enable as many as possible to elevate themselves to a level able to seed the next civilisation.

Allegedly Samael was concerned about the reaction to ‘The Perfect Matrimony’ by the forces of darkness or as they are entitled by the Gnostics, The Black Lodge. Apparently, they laughed in his face and showed him what they had in store for mankind. Sex, drugs, rock and roll, tv, cinema and mindless materialism would all be ingredients to dumb the masses. It is almost as if our rulers realised many generations ago that achieving greater spirituality was too difficult and that if they could not access these dimensions themselves, they would make every effort to ensure nobody else would succeed. The demon of ill will!  

One of the most positive Gnostic axioms is,

‘When an inferior law is transcended by a superior law, the superior law washes away the inferior law.’

Samael explains that to reach higher spiritual states of being requires purification. Lust, pride, envy, greed, anger etc are not compatible with higher states of being, they need to be eliminated after full comprehension. Because these impurities exist within the mind or intellect, the mind is not capable nor does it possess the energy necessary to perform the purification. Utilisation of the highest internal energy, transmutation of our sexual energy, merits of the heart and appeal to our Divine Mothers are means by which these undesirable elements can be eliminated. Without the force of sexual energy as a key component in dissolving the impurity of the ego, significant spiritual advancement is impossible.  

This is only the start. As above so below, within the human organism the potential is infinite.

One of biggest events this week unlikely to be reported by mainstream media was the continuing Court case in America brought by Dr Shiva Ayyadurai MIT PhD, against the Secretary of State for Massachusetts and several of his senior colleagues. Dr Shiva alleges that the US Government in the form of the State of Massachusetts instructed Twitter to have his comments censored and account suspended during his campaign for election to the Massachusetts state senate. This is the first ever court case to allege conspiracy between a national government and social media to apply censorship against those the government deems unacceptable. Finally, on Thursday evening I watched a recent Reiner Fuellmich interview with Peter Breggin an 85-year-old American psychiatrist here. Peter and his wife published the book ‘Covid-19 and the Global Predators, We are the Prey’. During the interview Peter remarks how unusually fluid and relaxed he feels. This is a classic example of location astrology at work. I can almost guarantee you that Peter’s relocated horoscope for Germany, where Reiner Fuellmich is based, and from where he was conducting the interview, would reveal at least one, perhaps several planets, in more favourable positions than at his location near New York City. This shows exactly why there is a value in having a copy of your birth chart and knowing where the planets occupy their most favourable positions.
